Engine History
The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History owns the oldest known remaining Atlas-Imperial diesel, manufactured in 1921.
The engine was originally acquired by the National Museum of History and Technology, which has since become the National Museum of American History. Its catalog number is 316578, from accession 223429. It was on display from the early 1970s to about 2001, and is now in off-site storage.
